Read2You ("we", "our", or "the app") is a privacy-first document reading application that uses text-to-speech and translation features. The app is designed to work completely offline and processes all data locally on your device.

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how the app works and your rights.

2. Information We Collect

Read2You does not collect any personal data or usage information.

2.1 Documents and Text Content

• All documents you import (PDF, text files, markdown) are processed entirely on your device.
• Documents are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party servers.
• Your document content remains completely private and stored only on your device.

2.2 Audio Generation

• Text-to-speech processing occurs entirely on your device using system-provided APIs.
• Generated audio files are stored locally on your device.
• Audio files are never transmitted off your device.

2.3 No Data Collection

We explicitly do NOT collect:

• Personal information or identifiers
• Contact information
• Device identifiers
• Document content or reading history
• Usage data, analytics, or crash reports
• Location data
• Any other user data

3. Translation Services

Translation features use platform-provided, on-device translation:

• iOS: Translation is processed using Apple's on-device Translation framework
• Android: Translation is processed using Google's on-device ML Kit Translation
• All translation occurs locally on your device
• We do not store, access, or transmit your translation content
• Translation data is governed by Apple's or Google's privacy policies, respectively

We do not operate any translation servers or cloud services.

4. Data Storage and Retention

All user data is stored locally on your device:

• Imported documents (PDF, text, markdown files)
• Generated audio files
• Reading progress and bookmarks
• App settings and preferences

We do not maintain any remote servers or cloud databases. Your data remains on your device until you delete it.

4.1 Device Backups

If you enable device backups (iCloud on iOS or Google Drive on Android), your documents and app data may be included in those backups according to your device settings. These backups are:

• Controlled by your device's backup settings
• Encrypted by Apple or Google
• Not accessible to us
• Governed by Apple's or Google's privacy policies

4.2 Data Retention

Data is retained on your device until you:

• Delete individual documents or files within the app
• Clear app data through device settings
• Uninstall the app

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties.

Data may only be shared:

• If required by law
• Through system-level crash reporting services (Apple/Google)

6. App Permissions

Read2You requires the following permissions to function:

• Storage/File Access: To read and import documents (PDF, text, markdown files) from your device
• Audio Playback: To play text-to-speech audio

These permissions are used solely for app functionality and never to collect or transmit data.

7. Children's Privacy

Read2You does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area).

Since the app does not collect any personal data, it is safe for children to use without parental consent requirements.

8. Security

Your documents and data are protected by:

• iOS / Android application sandboxing
• Operating system file system protections
• System-level encryption (when enabled on your device)
• No network transmission of data

Since all data remains on your device and we do not operate servers, your data cannot be compromised through our systems.

9. Offline Functionality

Read2You works completely offline. The app does not require an internet connection to:

• Import and read documents
• Generate text-to-speech audio
• Use translation features (after language models are downloaded)
• Store and access your reading progress

No data is transmitted over the internet during normal app use.

10. Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store personal data:

• There are no user accounts to create or delete
• No personal database exists that requires removal
• All data is under your direct control on your device

To remove all app data, you can:

• Delete documents individually within the app
• Clear app data through your device settings
• Uninstall the app to remove all associated data

11. Regional Privacy Rights

11.1 European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). However, since we do not collect or process personal data, these rights do not apply to Read2You usage:

• Right to access personal data (no data collected)
• Right to rectification (no data stored)
• Right to erasure (all data is local to your device)
• Right to data portability (all data remains on your device)
• Right to object to processing (no processing occurs)

11.2 California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). However, since we do not collect personal information:

• We do not sell personal information
• We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
• There is no personal information to access, delete, or correct

11.3 Other Regions

Read2You complies with applicable data protection laws worldwide by not collecting any personal data.

12. Third-Party Services

Read2You does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services. The app uses only:

• Apple's native iOS frameworks (for iOS version)
• Google's native Android frameworks (for Android version)

No third-party SDKs or services have access to your data.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes:

• The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy will be revised
• Significant changes will be communicated through the app or app store listing
• Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
